Tidbits for a rainy Tuesday

May 11, 2010

Here’s another football preview, this one courtesy of Pre-Snap Read. I think they get this one about right, though if the season plays out the way they predict (2 to 4 wins), most people will put EMU a little higher than 119.

If recruit quality determines the future of a program (and I think to a large extent it does), Eastern Michigan football is going to struggle for years to come. Scout.com ranks the incoming recruiting class worst in FBS.

In two weeks, the EMU men’s golf team will head to Gold Mountain Golf Club in Washington for the NCAA tournament, May 20-22. The Eagles will be the 11 seed in the Northwest Regional. This is the first at-large appearance for Eastern, but they’re no strangers to the tournament, having made it three of the last four years. The top five teams, plus the lowest-scoring individual not on a qualifying team will advance to the NCAA championship in June in Tennessee.

Wrapping up the roundup, this morning, EMU Athletics announced two men’s basketball signees, both JUCO transfers. Darrell Lampley is a 5′ 10″ junior who played shooting guard in high school, but now plays point guard. Kenny Stewart is a 6′ 7″ sophomore small forward.
