EMU v. Central Michigan open thread

September 18, 2010

If you go to the game this afternoon, be sure to pack your poncho. We’re looking at about a 30% to 40% chance of thunderstorms around game time. I’m not a meteorologist, and I don’t pretend to understand how they come up with those predictions, but when I look at the radar map, rain looks pretty darn likely. Also, in addition to the usual activities (Eagles’ Landing Fan Zone, Alumni Relations Tailgate), tonight will be the EMU “Boy Scout Night Under the Stars” (I guess they named it without looking at the weather forecast!). Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from three local councils (Great Sauk Trail Council, Tall Pine Council, Great Lakes Council) will be at the game, and camping out afterwards. So if you see a bunch of scouts running around be nice to them! Also, I’ve heard that the Graduates Of the Last Decade (GOLD) will have a tailgate at the game today, though EMU doesn’t have it on the official list of activities.

If you’re not able to make it to the game this afternoon, there are several other ways to keep up to date.

  • Watch online streaming video on Eagle All-Access. It costs $5.95 for a 24-hour pass, $9.95 for an entire month, or $79.95 for a full calendar year.
  • Listen to the game on WEMU, 89.1 FM. Or, if you’re out of the area, listen online for free.
  • The “tweetcast” is supposed to happen again, and you can still follow it all in one place. My hope is that rather than splitting coverage based on whether the Eagles are on offense or defense, they’ll give more of a mix of game updates and commentary.
  • If you hunt around online, you’ll find several websites claiming to have free streaming video of the game. I’m dubious, and some of the sites seem sketchy, so I won’t link them here, but they shouldn’t be too hard to find if you look.

You could also talk about it in the comments here.

Well, the weather turned out perfect for watching football. And the band sounded terrific. My hotdog was vaguely foodlike. And traffic seemed to flow very smoothly.
