Notes since last week:

  • Ohio State fell at Wisconsin, 31-18.
  • Nebraska lost to Texas 20-13.
  • After being up 28-10 at halftime, South Carolina collapsed in the second half, losing at Kentucky, 31-28.
  • In one of the highest-scoring games of the day, Auburn defeated Arkansas, 65-43.
  • In one of the lowest-scoring games of the day, Florida lost at home to Mississippi State, 10-7.
  • Nevada posted their sixth straight loss at Hawaii, 27-21. The Wolfpack have not won at the Rainbow Warriors since 1948.
  • Houston lost 34-31 at Rice. In the Conference USA revolving door, I’m going with UCF this week.
  • With the additions of Missouri and Oklahoma State, all remaining undefeated teams are now ranked. Four one-loss teams are not ranked: Florida State, Northwestern, Kansas State, and Nevada. The highest-ranked one-loss team is #5 Alabama. The highest two-loss team is #14 Arkansas. There are no ranked three-loss teams.
  • Big gainers in the rankings were Auburn and Wisconsin, both of which moved up five spots. Big losers were South Carolina (down seven spots), Ohio State (down six), and Nebraska (down six).
