Alrighty folks, it’s late October, which means that in addition to trick-or-treating, raking leaves, apple cider, and sweaters, it’s time to starting talking seriously about basketball. We’ll be taking a look at both the men’s and women’s basketball teams over the next couple of weeks, before they start their regular seasons. Each team is expected to be a MAC Championship contender.
The women tipped off their preseason with an exhibition game last night against Saginaw Valley State University, which the eagles won, 84-60. Next Wednesday they’ll host Northwood in a second exhibition, and the regular season will tip off at the Convocation Center on Friday, November 12, against Loyola-Chicago.
The men will tip off with the free Green & White Scrimmage from 2 to 3 pm at the Convocation Center today. They’ll have only one exhibition game, next Saturday at the Convo against Marygrove, and then they’ll get things right underway on November 12 with the toughest game of the season, playing at Michigan State. The men will have their home opener Wednesday, November 17, against Madonna University.
So over the next two weeks of the basketball pre-season, we’ll have a full rundown on the players, the coaches, the opponents, and the expectations. Stay tuned!
