MBB: EMU forfeits this Sunday’s game at Western Michigan

January 14, 2011

Not really, but perhaps they might as well.

Late this afternoon, Charles Ramsey announced that Brandon Bowdry will serve a one-game suspension this Sunday for an undisclosed violation:

We are suspending Brandon Bowdry for one game for conduct detrimental to our team. We expect Brandon to learn from this experience and turn it into a positive one when he returns to the lineup.

Quite honestly, winning this game was already a long shot for the Eagles, and it’s hard to see how they have a chance without Bowdry’s 21 points and 10 rebounds per game. I suppose there’s always the possibility that Bowdry was a ball hog, and his absence will give other team members a chance to shine, but given that Bowdry is shooting 45.8% while the rest of the team is collectively averaging 36.7%, I don’t think that’s likely.

On the plus side, according to the Kalamazoo Gazette, “[t]he Broncos might be without forward Juwan Howard Jr. (hip injury) and will be missing guard David Brown (ankle), both of whom were injured during Wednesday’s loss at Ball State.”
