Wallpaper Wednesday marches forward

September 28, 2011

One of the things that makes college football so special is the pageantry: cheerleaders, mascots, and marching bands. Since this Saturday is Band Day, I suggested a wallpaper honoring “The Pride of the Peninsula”, the EMU Marching Band, and I think Ken delivered nicely!

Last Saturday, the band held their annual March-A-Thon, parading through the neighborhoods of Ypsilanti in a continuing effort to raise the $200,000 needed to replace their 17-year-old uniforms. If you’re interested in sending a donation their way, here’s the printable pledge form.

I think the bands are my favorite aspect of college football. I kind of wish the TV broadcasts would go back to showing the bands instead of the incessant prattling of the Bobbleheads. I’m not entirely sold on mascots though…but Swoop is growing on me.
