MAC pre-season men’s basketball poll

November 2, 2011

No big surprises here. Kent State is the overall favorite, followed by Akron, while Western Michigan and Ball State are the picks to win the West Division. EMU, having tied for 10th place last year and then lost Brandon Bowdry, is an obvious pick for last in the West Division, which probably translates to last overall.

All it takes is a glance at the West Division Pre-season All-MAC Team to see why teams are expected to finish in the order they are. Western Michigan and Ball State have two players each on the team, while expected third-place finisher Central Michigan has Trey Zeigler. In the East Division, on the other hand, five teams have one player each on the pre-season team.
