EMU 41, Toledo 38: Rob Murphy post-game press conference

January 21, 2012

This is something of an experimental post. I attempted to record today’s post-game press conference, and am posting the resultant recording, unedited, here.

In this 18:21 recording, Rob Murphy discussed Toledo, EMU’s performance, his defensive philosophy, individual players (including Da’Shonte Riley, Matt Balkema, and briefly new transfer Josh Lyle), and his expectations for this year’s team. Since this is the first time I’ve tried something like this, please leave a comment and let me know what you think. Do you like it? Is it a waste of time? From a technical point of view, does the audio player work for you? How can I make it better? Plus, of course, any thoughts you’d like to share on the actual content of Murphy’s comments.

I live in New York and rarely hear anything about EMU. I enjoyed hearing Coach Murphy and truly believe that he will be successfull at Eastern

    Dear cmadler,
I like interviews, but it’s hard to hear the question most of the time. You can sometime figure out, by the answer being given, what the question was, and sometimes not. All in all I lked it. I felt Coach Murphy told it like it is, when he referred to the fact that Eastern has been lucky at times, and not just speak like the team was the greatest thing since sliced bread. He does seem like the genuine thing, and wish him the best.

I’ve never heard a recording or broadcast of a press conference where you could really hear the questions well. All the microphones are directed at the primary speaker (Coach Murphy in this case) so you won’t really ever hear the questions on a recording.
