How did EMU’s 2012 opponents do in week 4?
Hustle Belt debated whether Saturday was MAC football’s best day ever or merely the best day since 2003. In other words, EMU’s 2012 opponents did good.

A week after beating Indiana for the third straight time, Ball State took care of business against South Florida. Illinois State started their MVFC season off right by smacking around Western Illinois 23-3, holding the Leathernecks to 88 yards for the game. Kent State proves that although I was right about Pete Lembo, I was wrong about Darrell Hazell, who seems to have the Golden Flashes playing pretty good football, or at least sucking less. Toledo registered an ugly win against Coastal Carolina, but of course that’s better than Bowling Green’s ugly loss at Virginia Tech. Ohio played without starting quarterback Tyler Tettleton and still had no trouble downing Norfolk State. And then, at the end of EMU’s schedule…Central Michigan scratched out a win at Iowa, which far better schools have failed to do. Northern Illinois beat Kansas, and Western Michigan beat Connecticut for the second year in a row. That’s MAC wins over schools from the Big East (South Florida, Connecticut), Big (ten) XII (Kansas), and Big (12) Ten (Iowa), plus Akron and EMU had halftime leads at Tennessee and Michigan State, respectively.
All in all, a great day for MAC football. And…remember when I was telling you about how tough EMU’s schedule would be? Yeah.
